in 1933 for a “bungalow court.” By 1946, forty
residential and tourist cabins had been
constructed forming the Barbara Fritchie Cabins.
The name was an attempt to capitalize on one of
Frederick’s most famous historical characters.
Neon signs became popular during the 1920s
