Brandt Cabinet Works Hagerstown, MD
Brandt Cabinet works was founded in 1901. They company went out of business in the mid-80's but later purchased and reopened very nearby by a few former employees.
There is one anecdotal story about Brandt that made them infamous. In 1953, at the height of the Cold War, Julius and Ethel Rosenburg were executed for treason. The only concrete evidence presented at their trial was a photograph of a Brandt table, in the hallway of the Rosenburg house, which was supposedly used to photograph nuclear secrets which were then passed on to the Soviets. The Rosenburgs claimed their innocence, the Brandt company said they could have done without the negative advertising and the story is still around today.
